2022-2023 Barriers Faced by Elderly Voters and Voters with Disabilites

Wis. Stat. §5.25(4) requires the Commission to submit a report on barriers to voting faced by elderly voters and voters with disabilities to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature each odd-numbered year.  This report details the barriers to voting identified by the Commission’s polling place accessibility review program and other components of the accessible voting program during the 2022-2023 reporting period.  In addition, the report describes our efforts to provide training regarding polling place accessibility to local election officials and outlines the Commission’s Accessibility Advisory Committee.  Our Commission reviewed and approved the report at the April 28, 2023 meeting.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission is committed to ensuring that all voters have access to the polls on Election Day. The Commission uses the information generated by the Accessibility Advisory Committee, concerns submitted by the public, and the review program to alter training practices and public information materials in an effort to achieve 100 percent polling place accessibility compliance.
