At today’s special meeting of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, the commission directed Wisconsin clerks to follow past practice and only comply with the 47-day deadline on February 20 to send Presidential Preference-only ballots to military and overseas voters (UOCAVA) for the April 7 Spring Election.
- ‘A’ ballots should only be sent to military and overseas voters by the February 20, 2020, 47-day state deadline and by the February 22, 2020 45-day federal deadline.
- For absentee ballot requests from military and overseas electors received after February 22, 2020 and until official ballots are available, ‘A’ ballots must be transmitted within one business day.
- ‘A’ ballots should not be sent to regular voters with requests on file by that deadline.
- Regular voters should only be sent an official, or full, ballot by the 21-day deadline on March 17.
More guidance will be issued regarding the Commission’s decision as soon as possible. WEC staff still plan to hold the webinar tomorrow to review UOCAVA compliance with the deadlines in advance of the April 7 Spring Election and Presidential Preference Vote.
