MADISON – Meagan Wolfe, the nonpartisan administrator of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, recently received two national awards recognizing her performance in election administration.

On April 14, the American Society for Public Administration honored Wolfe as a 2024 recipient of its National Public Service Award. ASPA and the National Academy of Public Administration established the Public Service Award in 1983 to recognize outstanding contributions to public service.
The award was presented to Wolfe at the ASPA annual conference in Minneapolis. ASPA, founded in 1939 and based in Washington, D.C., is a membership association of approximately 8,000 public administration professionals and scholars.
Wolfe was among four national recipients this year, each recognized by ASPA executive director William Shields, Jr.
WEC chairman Don Millis, a Republican appointee to the Commission, extoled Wolfe’s efforts in administering Wisconsin elections.

“Leadership can be a struggle even during the best of times,” Millis said. “But in these challenging times, when electoral myths are widely accepted and invectives often drown out civil debate, Meagan has shown tremendous leadership, calmly working with the Commission staff, clerks and the commissioners to ensure that Wisconsin elections are secure and trusted.”

Meanwhile, in mid-March the Election Verification Network presented Wolfe with its Public Service Award in a ceremony in Washington, D.C., that Wolfe attended virtually. EVN annually honors recipients who protect and promote election integrity and verifiable elections.

EVN is a professional society of election officials, researchers, and advocates committed to accurate, accessible, transparent, reliable, and verifiable elections.

Ann Jacobs, a Democratic appointee to the Commission and a former chairwoman of the body, said Wolfe has made a positive difference for elections administration in Wisconsin.

“Wisconsin's election system is stronger because of Administrator Wolfe,” Jacobs said. “As her recent recognition shows, Meagan is one of the nation's most respected election administrators. She has demonstrated expertise, skillful leadership, and selfless service to Wisconsin's voters, all while navigating evolving challenges to the election landscape.”
