Subject Lines When Emailing State Agencies

  1. We recently learned that the Division of Enterprise Technology is blocking email with the words “Train/Training” and/or “Require/Requirement” in the subject line.  This is in response to a recent email phishing campaign that flooded state mailboxes with malicious emails.  Unfortunately, this means that some clerk emails with the subject line “Training Requirements” were blocked and not received by WEC.  Instead try a subject line with other terms like “Reporting Certification Hours” or “Question About Clerk Certification Hours.”
  2. While this DET blocking policy remains in effect, we recommend avoiding these terms in email subject lines to state agencies.  It is our hope that this policy is extremely short-lived, but we will provide an update once we know more.
  3. We will provide an update in the next newsletter.  As always, you can call the WEC Help Desk at 608-261-2028 or 608-266-8005 to ask questions or to confirm receipt of your email.
