WEC CARES Subgrant
September 1, 2020 is the deadline for submitting the WEC CARES Agreement and Certification form to receive the WEC CARES Subgrant.  This subgrant program is only available to municipalities and provides funds to help offset the costs incurred due to COVID-19’s impact on 2020 federal elections.  In order to receive funds, please send the WEC CARES Agreement and Certification form to [email protected] by September 1, 2020.  The authorized uses for this subgrant are those additional expenses as they relate to the COVID-19 response in the following areas: 

        (1) Ballot supplies, printing, and postage costs
        (2) Cleaning supplies, cleaning services, and protective equipment
        (3) Staffing
        (4) Mailings for public communication
        (5) Absentee drop-boxes
        (6) Space leasing
        (7) Equipment

September 15, 2020 is the deadline for turning in the first compliance checkpoint, a draft version of the WEC CARES Expenditure Report.  The final version of the WEC CARES Expenditure Report is due on December 1, 2020.  The final report is a cumulative report and should show how you fully spent your WEC CARES award.

2020 Election Security Subgrant
September 1, 2020 is the deadline for those municipalities that would like to apply for the 2020 Election Security Subgrant.  This subgrant is a re-release of the 2019 Election Security Subgrant program and is offered to those municipalities who did not received funds during the original release.  The subgrant is intended to provide a maximum of $1,200 to municipalities to achieve baseline compliance in these three areas: 

       1) Computer hardware and/or software to meet minimum security recommendations 
       2) Professional IT support capable of maintaining minimum security recommendations
       3) Travel and staff costs associated with Election Security training

To apply for the subgrant, please visit https://elections.wi.gov/node/7007 to download the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).  To apply, submit the MOU to the WEC Help Desk at [email protected], or mail to the WEC at P.O. Box 7084, Madison, WI 53707, or fax to (608) 267-0500.  A confirmation of grant compliance is due on December 1, 2020.
