Clerk communication re. recount 4.10.pdf 117.44 KB

As you may already be aware, Judge Lisa Neubauer announced today that she has conceded the election for Supreme Court Justice to Judge Brian Hagedorn.  While nothing is official and binding until the expiration of the recount period, we would like to share that it appears that there will not be a statewide recount for the election of Supreme Court Justice.

The deadline for county canvass results to be submitted to the Wisconsin Elections Commission is this Friday, April 12, 2019.  The WEC is listing the status of county canvass certifications at this link:  The deadline for the WEC to certify results for state-level contests is May 15, 2019, although the Commission plans to issue its certification as soon as possible after completing its data quality checks.

As we previously communicated, a recount petition cannot be filed until completion of the statewide canvass and the statutory deadline for an eligible, aggrieved candidate to file a recount petition is 5:00 p.m. on the third business day after the WEC receives the last county canvass.  We will notify you if there is a significant unexpected development related to a potential recount but at this point, the WEC is not actively planning or preparing for a statewide recount.
