The Wisconsin Elections Commission is making Badger Books available for purchase to be used in the Spring 2019 Election on April 2, 2019. Because staff will continue development and testing through February, Badger Books will not be available for use to new users in the 2019 Spring Primary. However, staff intends to run the Badger Book borrowing program for both the 2019 Spring Primary and Spring Election. If you are only interested in borrowing, please complete the survey in Step 2 below.

Two configurations are available, and both packages include HP’s ElitePOS G1 8GB retail unit as the main piece of hardware. The data sheet for this device can be found here. Each package also contains a 2-D barcode scanner, thermal receipt printing functionality, Windows 10 Pro, a wireless keyboard and mouse, and PDS configuration services. A per polling place package includes a wireless router, Kingston USB, thermal receipt paper, and configuration services. Orders should be submitted by December 14.

Please make your order promptly to ensure that we have enough resources to support your municipality for implementation before the 2019 Spring Election. Badger Books with an integrated column printer are about two inches taller and will require more frequent printer paper replacement, however they do not need to be manually connected to the ElitePOS unit with a cord like the Badger Book stand-alone unit.

Package 1 – Badger Book with Integrated Column Printer
• $1826.00 per Badger Book station
• $228.00 per polling place (router, thermal receipt paper, and USB Device)

Package 2 – Badger Book with Stand-Alone Printer
• $1853.00 per Badger Book station
• $193.00 per polling place (router, thermal receipt paper, and USB Device)

Staff will provide further communication on Badger Book training and data configuration through the Elections Learning Center. Staff will be in further contact with clerks implementing Badger Books in the April 2019 Spring Election to ensure they have the support necessary for a successful implementation. The purchasing and borrowing survey will close at 5:00 p.m. on December 14. Please use the following steps to place your order or indicate your interest in borrowing:

Step 1: Set up an account with PDS
Send an email to TeamGovEdu@pdsit.net to contact PDS with a completed “PDS Client Registration” form and tax-exempt information to set up a PDS client account.  
Step 2: Indicate your purchasing or borrowing plans.
Complete this survey to indicate your purchasing or borrowing plans.  If it is indicated that you would like to purchase for use in 2019, data collected in this survey will be used to generate a quote from PDS.
Note: Completing this survey does not guarantee you will be selected to borrow the Badger Books in 2019.
Step 3: PDS generates quote.
Using the information provided in Step 2, PDS will generate and provide a quote to the point of contact referenced in Step 1.
Step 4: Submit purchase order to PDS by December 19.
Submit your purchase order via survey linked above by December 14. PDS will confirm the order has been received by December 19 and coordinate delivery thereafter.
