Memo Regarding Voter Initiated Photo I.D. Requirement

The Government Accountability Board (G.A.B.) has received inquiries regarding an optional “Photo ID” requirement at the request of any elector. Currently, the law does not authorize nor require optional voter identification for each and every election, once an elector is properly registered.

On Wednesday, February 17, you received a phone call from Election Specialist Ross Hein regarding the potential for a recount of the Court of Appeals District IV primary election. Based upon our survey of the 24 counties involved, the unofficial results indicate a 182-vote difference between Edward Leineweber and Ramona Gonzalez with a total of 54,036 votes cast.
