Spring Election and Presidential Preference Primary - April 7, 2020

The April 7 Spring Election and Presidential Preference Primary is occurring as scheduled.

All absentee ballots must be hand delivered by 8 p.m. on April 7 or postmarked by April 7 and received by 4 p.m. on April 13 to be counted according to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

Absentee ballots will not be accepted if they are:

  • Not postmarked by April 7.

  • Postmarked on or before April 7, but received after 4:00 p.m. on April 13.

  • Hand delivered or without a postmark received after 8:00 p.m. on April 7. 

Polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

2019 Election Security Subgrant Program

The program's goal is to provide financial resources to make sure that every clerk has an up-to-date, secure computer, has access to professional IT support, and has received election security training.

Governor Evers has amended his original order for a special election in the 7th Congressional District to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Representative Duffy. 

Please see the attached Amended Executive Order and other information about the special election. The filing deadline for nomination papers is 5:00 p.m., on Monday, December 2, 2019.

Publications Open for Public Comment

The Wisconsin Elections Commission occasionally publishes manuals and other guidance documents that interpret state law. In accordance with 2017 Wisconsin Act 369, those guidance documents will generally be open for public comments for 21 days following publication on this website.

The WEC website now has a page listing new guidance documents: Publications Open for Public Comment. From the pages hosting those guidance documents, users may click on a link to send an email to the WEC with their comments.

The WEC also invites public comments on any of the documents on its website. Just send us an email here, or email the Help Desk at elections@wi.gov with the subject line "Public Comment".  Please include the name of the document you are referencing.

At myvote.wi.gov you can register to vote, check your voter registration status, find your polling place, see what's on your ballot, request an absentee ballot and check provisional ballot status.

Voter Photo ID Required

Free State ID Cards for People without Birth Certificates
