I am very pleased to announce that we have added a new Office Operations Associate, a new Training Officer and two new Elections Specialists to our team at the Wisconsin Elections Commission. The new team members are filling positions that were vacant due to recent staff promotions and vacancies.

Following is a brief introduction to the new members of our staff:

Amy McGregor joined the WEC as an Office Operations Associate in November 2017. Amy assists with many office duties including answering the main agency phone line and providing customer service support to WEC partners. Amy also assists with other agency priorities such as processing financial transactions. Amy holds an associate’s degree in fashion marketing from Madison College.

Michelle Hawley started with the Elections Commission as a Training Officer in November 2017. Michelle will be assuming the responsibilities previously held by Juanita Borton. Michelle brings a variety of valuable experiences to the WEC including those gained in her previous position as a trainer with the federal court system and her continued service through the U.S. Army Reserves. Michelle holds associate’s degrees in applied sciences, a bachelor’s degree in human services, and is currently completing her master of business administration degree through Concordia University.

Bill Wirkus joined the WEC election administration team in December 2017 as an Election Specialist. Bill has previous experience in elections; he has worked as an attorney at a law firm that provided counsel to the New Mexico Secretary of State’s office, which oversees election administration in New Mexico. Bill holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and German from University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and a law degree from Ave Maria School of Law.

Riley Willman also joined the WEC team in December 2017. Riley is a recent graduate of Drake University with a degree in international relations. He has also worked as a legislative staffer in Iowa where he gained experience working on voter outreach initiatives and analyzing the impacts of new legislation.

We are excited to add Amy, Michelle, Bill and Riley to our team and know that they will make excellent contributions to elections in Wisconsin. Our new team members are looking forward to working with all our clerk partners to assist in administering their first statewide election on February 20, 2017. I am confident that they will continue the excellent level of support and assistance which local election officials have come to expect from our staff.
