Good Opportunity to Complete SVRS-Related Tasks

The purpose of this informational memo is to highlight some tasks that we all can be working on to ensure accurate and up-to-date information both in SVRS and on MyVote Wisconsin.

Reminder to Update SVRS Office Holders

The G.A.B. enters state and federal office holders, as well as multi-jurisdictional judges and school board members.  Clerks also should be entering local office holders in SVRS, so that they appear on MyVote.  The Clerk & Office Holder Info link on MyVote provides voters with their municipal clerk and elected office holder contact information. Clerk information comes from the Jurisdictions node and office holder information comes from the office holders entered under each Office Position in SVRS. Office holders must be entered in SVRS in order to appear on MyVote. Clerk information must be sent to the G.A.B. Help Desk on the GAB-362 Form so that voters can have your correct contact information.  Maintaining accurate information regarding current office holders is especially important as we expect the use of MyVote to continue to increase.

Please see the “Update Office Holder” section in the Districts and Offices chapter of the SVRS Manual for instructions on how to enter an office holder in SVRS.

Review the Normal Polling Place Locations for Each Ward

Voters can view their polling place information on MyVote Wisconsin.  When an election is set up, MyVote will display the polling place information based on the Polling Place Assignment Plan (PPAP) for that election.  However, in between elections, MyVote will display the “Normal Polling Place” assigned to that ward in the district details.  Some municipalities set up new polling place locations for the Spring Election. If these new locations will become the normal polling place for that ward, the Normal Polling Place Location for the associated wards should also be updated.  In addition, voters see this information for their ward on Voter Verification Postcards.  Please review the Normal Polling Place Location for your wards, making any necessary updates.

Review Your Jurisdiction’s SVRS Users

As in any office environment, there is some turnover of staff in clerk offices.  Some of these staff may have been SVRS users, and the G.A.B. needs to disable their SVRS access.  Now is a good time for all of us to clean house!  Please review your jurisdiction’s current SVRS users by doing the following:  

Expand the Administration node in the SVRS menu. Click on the word Jurisdictions. Find your jurisdiction name in the Jurisdiction Name drop-down box.  Click Search.  Double-click on the row returned in the grid to open your Jurisdiction – Update screen. Finally, click on the Other tab. The User Names are listed here.  Please notify the G.A.B. Help Desk at, or 608-261-2028, with the names of staff members no longer working in SVRS.
